A Software Developer by trade, I attempt to play ice hockey, do triathlons and other sporty stuff  in my spare time.

I live in Denver, Colorado and I’m married to the lovely Sheliah, Principal at Resonate Communications

I started this blog to keep track of my attempts to learn Adobe’s Flex and take the ACE exam. It’s not something I use in my day job but so far, I really like it and I want to get better at it. I don’t really expect anyone else to read this stuff as there are plenty of other places to get information on Flex but who knows – if you find something useful, let me know.

Your Learning Flex series is a very good jump off point for newbies. Bookmarking this and reading one everyday.

Hi there – glad you like it. I recommend getting the book “Adobe Flex 3: Training from the Source” It’s what I’ve been working from. I’ve almost finished the lessons it has but there’s plenty more stuff out there to explore. I plan on looking in to the Swiz framework, Axiis data vis toolkit, Flex 4 and the Flex integration with SalesForce to name a few areas. There’s certainly enough to keep me busy!

Hi – the blog goes back as far as lesson 3. The first two lessons are more about getting setup with the official Flex Builder IDE. I’ve used the alternative Flash Develop tool for most of my work. Here’s a link to the page with the oldest posts : https://mattreyuk.wordpress.com/2009/04/page/2/ the oldest post is on the bottom of the page, they get newer as you go up. You’ll see posts about getting started with Flex and Flash Develop on this page. If you click on the “Newer Posts >>” link on the bottom right of the page, you’ll get to the next oldest posts with lesson 5 at the top, scroll down and you’ll see lessons 4 and then 3. I recommend taking a look at the book I was working from for these lessons – “Adobe Flex 3: Training from the source” (I have no association with the authors other than having met one of them once).
